As a Senior Medical Officer – ER, you will play a vital role in managing emergency cases, assisting in surgical interventions, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care. Working closely with consultants and other medical staff, you will provide rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment for patients in critical condition. Additionally, you will coordinate with nursing teams and specialists to deliver seamless care and maintain clear communication with patients and their families during emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in all aspects of surgical services including acting as the first assistant during operations.
• Provide clinical care for post-operative patients and advise on all aspects of their care.
• Develop clinical competence across theatre, ward, and outpatient settings.
• Facilitate informed consent by providing patients with clear information about procedures.
• Maintain physical presence in the hospital during duty hours; notify the on-call consultant and arrange coverage before leaving in emergencies.
• Assess and manage surgical patients in the ER, collaborating closely with the consultant on call to develop treatment plans.
• Document patient histories, physical exams, and detailed treatment plans accurately.
• Conduct regular rounds (minimum twice daily) on admitted patients, addressing their concerns and escalating critical cases to the primary consultant.
• Assist consultants during major surgical cases and ensure operative notes and post-op plans are completed and specimens handled properly.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department (HOD).

Qualifications & Experience:

• MBBS degree from a recognized medical institution.
• FCPS or MD training in Medicine or Allied specialties completed from a tertiary care hospital.
• Valid PMDC registration.
• Preferred: Experience in emergency and surgical departments.
