Introduction

Peshawar General Hospital is a well-regarded healthcare facility in Hayatabad, Peshawar. The hospital is looking to appoint a Registrar for its Anesthesia department and invites applications from suitably qualified doctors who want to work as part of an experienced anesthesia team.

Introduction to the Role

In this role, the Registrar will support the delivery of safe anesthesia care for patients undergoing surgical and other procedures. The work covers assessing patients before anesthesia, helping to plan anesthesia for each case, monitoring patients during procedures, and supporting their recovery and pain relief afterwards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients before anesthesia and help prepare an anesthesia plan suited to each case.
• Administer and adjust anesthesia during procedures while closely monitoring the patient’s vital signs.
• Support pain management and perioperative care for patients before, during and after surgery.
• Assist with sedation for critically ill patients and respond promptly in emergency situations.
• Work closely with surgeons, physicians, nurses and other members of the care team.
• Maintain clear and accurate patient records related to anesthesia care.

Job Requirements

• MBBS from an institution recognised by the PMDC.
• Completed FCPS training in Anaesthesiology, or MCPS (Anaesthesiology) / DA.
• A valid PMDC licence.
• Two to five years of experience in anesthesia after the postgraduate qualification, gained in a reputable hospital.
• Sound clinical judgement, careful attention to detail and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Good communication skills and a cooperative, team-based approach to patient care.
